Job Description

Software engineers are responsible for the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. By performing engineering design and user requirements analysis, the Software Engineer will make recommendations for improving development and design of current software systems and documentation.  Software engineers must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within their particular field and rely on functional experience and judgement to plan and accomplish mission critical goals, while working under general supervision.

Education and Experience Requirements

A successful candidate for this position must have an active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance, 14 years of software engineering experience plus a technical Bachelor’s Degree (4 years of hands on software engineering experience in lieu of a degree).  WebUI/Visualization experience requirements include Basic Usability Engineering skills, HTML, CSS, Java, Javascript, AngularJS, Ember.js, D3, Web GL, OpenGL or similar skills.  Data access experience in Java, MongoDB, Accumulo, MapReduce, REST, and JSON are also required.  Finally, frameworks experience must include Docker, Puppet, and Customer’s Corporate cloud systems.

Job Outlook

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics the projected 10 year growth rate between 2012 and 2022 is much higher than average, growing at 22% nationwide and adding 222,600 jobs during that period.  In May of 2012, the median annual was $90,600 for applications software engineers and $99,000 for systems software engineers.

Current Vacancy

Currently, TPGS is seeking to fill two Software Engineer roles in support of our government contract in Maryland. The professionals filling this role will be responsible for analyzing user requirements, coding new software, integrating systems, developing performance algorithms, and providing recommendations to improve processes. A minimum of 14 years of experience with a variety of scripting languages is required, and must have TS/SCI clearance levels.
